Organization Behavior

The organizations are composed of individuals. Every individual has different aspirations, values, and perceptions, behaviors etc. No two individual are similar. Organization behavior helps us to understand human behavior in organization. In order to obtain maximum efficiency in an organization. The management should understand human behavior in an organization. Organizational behavior emphasizes mainly on two points they are:

1. Nature of human

2. Nature of organization.

A field of study that investigates the impact that individuals, groups and structure have on behavior within organizations, for the purpose of applying such knowledge toward improving organizations effectiveness.

What is Organizational Behavior

It is concerned with the study of what people do in an organization and how that behavior affects the performance of the organization. It states that the behavior is related to concerns such as jobs, work, absenteeism, employment turnover, productivity, human performance and management.

Organizational behavior includes motivation leader behavior and power, interpersonal communication, group structure, learning, attitude development and perception, change process, confict, work design and work stress.


    


Definition of Organizational Behavior

According to Callahan "Organizational behavior is a subject of management activities concerned with understanding, predicting, and influencing the individual behavior in organizational setting".

According to New storm and Davis "Organizational behavior is the study and application of knowledge about how people act within an organization. It is the human tool for human benefit. It apples broadly to the behavior of people in all types of organization".

Organization behavior is the study of what people do in an organization and how that behavior affects the performance in an organization.

Organizational Behavior (OB) is dedicated to a better understanding and management of people at work.

Organizational behavior focuses on two areas:

1. Individual behavior

2. Group behavior
